Obituary of Raymond Ruthven Goldin

GOLDIN, Raymond Ruthven - After a brief illness, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of an incredible husband, father, son and brother at the NHS St. Catharines site at the age of 71. Beloved husband of Jackie (Paroyan) and devoted Popsie of Rayna Laughlin (Karen). Survived by his mother Mildred Sorin and siblings Bill and Maxine. Predeceased by father Charles Goldin (1948) and stepfather Irving Sorin (1980) and his in laws, Missak (2002) and Marie (1994). Ray will be dearly missed by his extended Paroyan, Bufalino and Kavazanjian families, including many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. Born in Niagara Falls, ON, Ray served 4 years in Germany with the Royal Canadian Regiment and upon his return started working at General Motors, retiring after 33 years in 2000. Ray worked alongside Jackie as the owner of the City Tavern/Odyssey Tap and Grill, which allowed him to bring his love of blues to the stage with incredible musicians, jamming together from Western New York to Toronto. He was a member of St. George's Lodge No. 15 A.F. & A.M, and the Scottish Rite Masonry. In retirement, Ray could be found every morning, walking at Lakeside Park with his partner in crime and true princess, his Golden Lab Boo. When he wasn't making his family and friends laugh, or doting on his beautiful lab, Ray enjoyed days on the water fishing, traveling, working on his golf game, playing pool or spending nights at the arena watching hockey. Special thanks to the Doctors and nurses Kosol, Annett, Chris and the rest of the health care team on the 4th floor at NHS for their compassion and care. Visitation will be held at GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL, 585 Carlton Street, St. Catharines on Friday October, 16th from 6-9 p.m, beginning with a Masonic Service at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at St. Gregory's Armenian Apostolic Church, 49 Carlton Street, St. Catharines, on Saturday October 17, 2015 at 11 a.m. Celebrated by Very Rev.Fr.
