Obituary of Christopher Lloyd

LLOYD, Christopher Peacefully in his home, Chris passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2014, in his 89th year. Chris was predeceased by his loving wife, Florence. Beloved father of Thomas, Christopher (Margarita) and Trevor (Deb). Proud Grandad of Xela, Mellisa, Megan, Spencer and Andie. Dear brother of John Lloyd. Born in Hereford, England, Chris served in the Royal Navy at the end of WWII. Following his time of service, he returned to Hereford to work and during this time Chris discovered his passion for rowing as a member of the Hereford Rowing Club. In 1948, Chris immigrated to Canada and began working for Royal Insurance in Toronto. Before long, he became an independent insurance adjuster until the mid 1990's. In 1994, Chris moved to Port Dalhousie to be closer and more involved with the rowing course. During these years, in addition to rowing himself, he served and volunteered in many official positions in the sport, including President of Ridley Graduate Boat Club. Chris will be remembered for his dedication and hard work in his career and his favourite pastime. A special thank you to Joan Bodreau, Lynne Walker and Shirley MacIntosh for their excellent care of Chris and Florence. Arrangements are entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL CHAPEL. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be given to the charity of your choice.
