Our Funeral Quote Builder allows you to learn in advance of need what funerals cost at our firm and also allows you to use this tool to compare our charges with other firms in the area.

When you visit the Gerorge Darte Funeral Home you can take as much time as you need in the comfort and sanctuary of your own home to learn about your options and choose the level of services and merchandise that's right for you. The information you provide to us by using the Request an Appointment reduces the amount of consulation time we need. This saves time and the significant savings are passed on to you and your family.

And remember, regardless of whether you choose our facilities or not, all products can be delivered to the funeral home or location of your choice, usually within hours with no charge for delivery within a 50 kilometer radius of our firm.

Professional Services

Funeral Director Services $519 (required)

This service includes but is not limited to, the availability and work done by our funeral director(s) on behalf of the purchaser. This would include the coordination and directing the services of our staff and agents with those of the hospital, nursing home, or cemetery or crematorium in picking up the remains from the place of death and making the necessary arrangements for final disposition. It also includes the invoices, and in placing notices, booking staff and vehicles and other support functions. Also we provide a post funeral follow-up to assist and advise the family of the many necessary "running around" details to be handled.

Staff Services

Staff Services $205 (required)

This service includes, but is not limited to, staffing, cleaning, and maintenance of premises and grounds, staffing office an telephone coverage. It includes the maintenance of permanent records, accounting, legal, advertising and public awareness fees. Further, it includes grief recovery work and courses needed to maintain our grief recovery standards. This service is required for any funeral that is not a Direct Burial or Direct Cremation.

Funeral Day $481

This service includes, but is not limited to, preparations for funeral service, staff to direct and assist with the funeral service and includes a period of time up to four hours in length. This service would include receiving, arranging and local delivery of flowers, coordinating donations, etc.

1 Day of Visiting $275

This service includes, but is not limited to, preparating for visitation, staffing during visitation, receiving and arranging floral tributes, coordinating donations and other duties associated with rites and services during visitation.

Additional Visitation Period $180

This service includes all of the services itemized in the description for 1 day of visiting and is charged on a per diem basis.

Documentation $154

This charge is for obtaining the necessary information to complete the documentation legally required in connection with the disposition of the remains, arranging for the filing of the documentation and registration of the death, and providing copies of our funeral director's Proof of Death Certificates.

Embalming $351

Embalming is not a requirement of the law. Some funeral arrangements selected, such as a funeral with viewing, or the holding of a body for a period of time in excess of 48 hours between death and final disposition, requires embalming by funeral home policy.

Other Body Preparation $117

These services may include, when necessary, cosmetology, hairdressing, placing the body in the casket or container, special care of autopsied remains, sanitation, and extra disinfection of the body when no embalming is authorized.

Post Funeral Services $0

Post Funeral Services include referral to qualified grief counselors or participation in a self-help group environment. Also available is our lending library of books, tapes or audio cassettes. Our firm offer the community THE GRIEF RECOVERY OUTREACH PROGRAM which is a twelve week program held in the spring and fall, helping those who wish grief recovery assistance. It is open to anyone in our community. Our Kristen French Fellowship Room is available to self-help groups in the area of grief recovery.

Host/Hostess $100

A host/hostess to assist with the use of the Fellowship Hall. Services and responsibilities of the host/hostess include, Making the tea/coffee, having ice water available, Setting up the tables with dishes, cutlery, glasses, etc., Being present during the reception to address immediate concerns, Limited assistance with food preparation. i.e. cutting sandwiches or desserts and placing on trays. The Host/Hostess shall not be expected to make salads, sandwiches, or to assemble vegetable or cheese trays. · Cleaning up the entire area after the reception and packaging any remaining food for the family.

Facilities:

Use of our Facilities

Basic $439 (required)

This is a minimum charge made by us in all cases for the use of our facilities, including parking area, areas open to the public within our funeral home, our arrangement offices, casket display room, fellowship room (which may be used for post funeral gatherings), lounge for coffee, tea, etc. and other facilities and equipment required to operate as a licensed funeral home.

Funeral Day $283

This includes use of our premises, furnishings, and equipment the day of the funeral service. This may include any of all of the following: lectern, organ, sound equipment, religious equipment, flower and donation card display stands, casket bier, flower and donation stands, sound system and religious equipment.

Fellowship Hall $200

This includes the use of the Kristen French Fellowship Hall for a period of up to two hours. Included with the hall is use of a fully equipped kitchen facility including commercial grade dishwasher, china ware, coffee urns, etc. For further information request a brochure.

1 Day of Visiting $261

This includes use of our facility for reception of friends and relatives and may include any or all of the following: register desk, casket bier, flower and donation stands, sound system and religious equipment.

Additional Visitation Period $233

Quantity

This is a per diem charge for the use of our facility for the reception of friends and relatives for each subsequent day of use after the first day of visiting. Included in this charge are the items previously listed in 1 day of visiting.

Personal Care Suite/Shelter $235 (required)

Includes use of all necessary equipment for professional or sanitary care of the remains together with a room for this purpose. It includes the necessary equipment and gear for our embalming staff to use in order to put us in compliance with W.H.M.I.S. regulations, as well as the Occupational Health & Safety Act (Bill 208).

Custodial Care $90

May be charged after the remains have been sheltered for a period of 48 hours. This is a per diem charge.

Motor Vehicles:

Use of Motor Vehicles

The prices shown are for the use of the vehicles on a single occasion, such as use of the funeral coach from the funeral home to the church and then to the cemetery where the trip does not exceed 35 kilometers from our funeral home. An additional charge of $1.25/km may be made for the use of all vehicles for each kilometer beyond this area.

Utility Vehicle $302 (required)

This vehicle is used by our staff in making arrangements, picking up and filing documentation necessary for our services and any other trips that are necessary in conjunction with the services being performed by us. The charge for this vehicle is a flat fee for all funeral services performed by us. This vehicle is used by our staff for delivery of floral tributes to cemetery, church or other locations instructed by the family. This vehicle may also be used for delivery of remains to crematoriums, other funeral homes, airports, etc.

Clergy/Lead Vehicle $141

The use of this vehicle may include any or all of the following: transportation of clergy to funeral home or place of funeral rite, transportation of clergy to place of final disposition, leading of funeral procession.

Funeral Hearse $305

The use of this vehicle includes the transportation of the deceased from our facility to the place of the funeral rite and to the place of the final disposition.

Limousine $200

Family transportation and pallbearers transportation is not provided in our costs. Should limousine service be desired, it will be provided by an independent service at their prevailing rates.

Transfer to Funeral Home $210 (required)

This includes the transfer of the remains of the deceased from the place of death to the funeral home

Our firm offers to families choosing a full service funeral the following : register book, crucifix, memorial cards/ prayer cards, funeral director's Proof of death Certificate. To Do's Book, Canada Pension Forms, Thank-You cards, bookmarks, memory book, self-help brochures and information

Disbursements $0 (required)

Newspaper notices, coroner's fees, telephone and fax charges, licensing and registration fees, environmental waste disposal charges, etc. These may be paid in advance by us and then billed to you when we issue your invoice.

Taxes $0 (required)

Provisions should be made for the Goods & Services Tax and most likely for the Provincial Sales Tax.
